The Methodist Hospital Network Houston, Texas
Ranked among the top 100 hospitals by US News and World Report, Methodist has made great strides in creating a spiritual environment of caring with help from Conscious Pursuits, Inc. Cindy Wigglesworth has acted as a consultant to the Spiritual Care and Values Integration effort since January of 2001. Cindy helped the organization define a strategic plan for integrating their core values into the behaviors and practices of the organization. CPI designed the Living Methodist Values training program, attended by all 9000 Methodist employees and now part of the new hire orientation program. The classroom program utilizes accelerated learning technologies to keep the class fun and to improve retention of the information shared. (click here to see photo). These initiatives led to The Methodist Hospital Network receiving a Willis Harman Spirit at Work Award (click here for more information on WHSAW Awards) in 2002 for sustained effort to create a spiritual work environment. Business results have included a significant drop in nursing vacancy rates leading to zero contract nursing at the flagship hospital and the highest patient satisfaction scores on record.
